As adults understanding the need to care for and feed our souls, we come together to learn from the Bible, the life-giving Word of God. As God has placed great importance on the Church as the body of Jesus Christ, we place emphasis on this idea of togetherness, believing it most helpful to our collective spiritual growth to focus on gathering with men and women of all ages in our weekly meetings. We come together to study Scripture and encourage one another in the faith. This is rooted in the famous proverb which says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

Our adults find biblical instruction by which to live well and fellowship that cultivates concern for the whole church body through our LifeGroups, Wednesday Evening Bible Studies, and individual discipling relationships. This format helps us to love the entire body of Christ and not simply appreciate those who are most like us.

Adult LifeGroups

LifeGroups are the adult education hour at LCoB, and their primary focus is discipleship. Through discipleship, Christians come to look more and more like Jesus Christ. We aim to care for what Christ cares for, love with Christ’s love, and serve with His humility. More specifically, our Adult LifeGroups:

  • Improve our understanding of Scripture
  • Ground us in the basic doctrines of grace
  • Train us how to live Christ-centered lives
  • Apply God’s wisdom to our relationships
  • Teach us how to engage the world

Writing to the church in Ephesus through his trusted disciple Timothy, the Apostle Paul emphasized the ultimate purpose of serious discipleship: “Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” (1 Tim. 4:7b-8)

At LCoB we offer a variety of LifeGroups for you to plug into. Meeting prior to the Sunday morning service at 9am is our women’s group and one of the coed groups. These early LifeGroups study God’s Word topically to grow in knowledge and understanding in applying the Bible to daily life. The other coed LifeGroups meet for one hour starting at 11:20am following the Sunday morning service. These later groups dig into the Bible one book at a time in an interactive group format to unpack God’s timeless Truth and learn what God is saying, what He means, and how to apply it to our lives.
